Hope you all dont mind. I am a 13 year old boy whose mother just showed me this site. I appriciate very much what you are writing and trying to do. Long hair is great, I have it and like it lots when mom puts it in rolers. They are warm. They mean I have to sit down for a long time, like school.
I get mine cut about 2 years and trimmed each six months. I dont remember my hair being shorter then my elbows.. I feel it at just past my waiste now.
Mom does not curl it anymore but I do. She did it last when I was 10 and I kind of just took over. It feels so soft and kind of tickles as it goes across my back.
For a few years people would think I was a girl. I still get that from time to time.. ususally from older people or someone not knowing me from behind.
My sister and mom used to dress me up and style my hair. I do dnot remember makeup except when my sister played dress up. I didnt like it at first but then it just seemed like something fun to see what people would think. I dont do it now but wonder if I can.
I really never hear about any long hair styles for guys so it is less confusing when I just braid it or ware it straight when it is down. Having short bangs is just hard to keep it pulled back and makes you look to mush like a girls style.
Because I never find good styles for boys like me, I have had it done into whatever girl like style fits me well and if it seems like a time it could be embarassing I just braid or pull the front and sides back. Leaving the warm long back hanging down.
Anyhow. I think having long hair can be great for little boys and even as long as it it kept up, for older guys.
I run and high jump and only with a strong perm, or if it is windy, does it get in the way. Again braid and high ponytail. I personally put it in a bun when I jump. Or at least a couple of the girls on the team will.
It make me feel good now that I have worn it in public for a time. Like im more confidnet. I love the good attention and I really like it when a girl asks me for advice.

I have a 6 year old son who is mixed. He doesn't like the buzz cut or bald look but neither does he want an afro or even a mini-fro. I need pictures of short hair styles that are not a buzz cut. Any ideas on where I can get picutres to show my son.

Just trying to update from hairdresser and women who are still seeing the treand of boys getting curls at the salon. My son just turned 9 and I had a small party at my salon for him and 3 of his little girlfriends , they all got their fingers and toes polished a lillte makeup and all had their hair curled, it was so much fun for all involved he is already asking for the same for next year. I still set his hair at least every other day and have ben putting it up because its so hot here now. He is always wanting to go to the salon because he just loves all the attention and the cute styles the girls puthis hair in. I know he is more femmine brobabley than most of the boys I have read about on the site but thats who he is and I love and support him If any one wants to contact me to chat my email is bakerstephanie74@yahoo.com

i have a Saturday job in a salon and also work a couple of evenings a week. i've also seen a few boys getting their hair curled by the stylists, most of the time with a curling iron, but sometimes on rollers too. It's not super common but it's not like that unusual that i am that surprised either now. Sometimes the ones who have their hair done with the curling iron is like a one off thing or a sudden impulse, sometimes the stylist suggests it for example, but the ones who have the roller sets of course are much more planned. I've also seen some boys with french braids too which I think looks really good on either gender. I love talking hair. Spangles69@yahoo.com

hi, my 2.5 year old has beautiful long hair past his shoulders and we are in no rush to cut it, as we didnt cut his 2 older brothers hair till they were 5, however after trial and error with our eldest two boys i realised that it is best to leave boys without a fringe or bangs as some call it, grow it out, we clipped our sons back with black clips when he was a baby and it was in his eyes and now when he goes to playcentre or is busy doing something messy we just tye it back. alot of indiginous people grow there childrens hair long, i personally just think it makes them look far too old when they are little if they have short hair. my son does OFTEN get mistaken for a girl though, even though he is very much a boys boy, and we dress him in what i would call traditional boys colours etc,
