Not true...I have thick-curly hair and when my hair stylist cut it into layers, my curls looked waaayyy better. Your stylist needs to know your hair and know the length of layers that are right for you. I wouldn't suggest thinning your hair though...fullness can be beautiful if your hair looks healthy.

The layers really depend on whether or not you plan on straightening your hair often or if you want the curls. And it really depends on the length of the layers; since I got mine, the curls on top leveled out with the thicker stuff on bottom, but if its too short, I hope you're into afros... It also makes straightening difficult when the curls are less weighted. But I love my layered hair, it works for me!

I agree with Jessica - I've tried every trick in the book and layering with thinning scissors is the worst thing that can be done to my hair. Every hairdresser wants to take this easy way out to manage my hair. They have talked me into it several times and it NEVER works. The best thing that I find is to let the hair pull down with its own weight and if I want a 'tossed' look, I can have the ends slighty cut in
up with a sort of 'zig zag' motion, thereby leaving the weight in. This process makes for a smooth wavy look which if cut properly can look quite chic'.

WOAH. Putting in layers is a huge NO NO. I have curly, frizzy hair and my hairstylist told me to do that. WORST MISTAKE. I hope nobody took your advice. For people with curly hair it actually shortens your curls on top making the issue WORSE.

i have the same hair as mentioned thick frizzy and very curly but what you guys can do is, when you come out of the shower from taking a bath, tie your hair in many braids, atleast four, then go to sleep. when you'll wake up untie your hair they won't be puffy and in perfect curls!!!!
try it!
