Choosing Hairstyles for Various Face Shapes
Choosing hairstyles for various face shapes is not as hard as it may seem. The first step is to determine what your face shape is. The most common face shapes are oval, round, square, heart-shaped, and oblong. If you are not sure what shape your face is, there are two easy methods of finding it. One way is to draw the outline of your face’s reflection on a mirror in lipstick and decide what the outline most closely resembles.
Another is to measure your forehead, cheeks, chin, and the length of your face. If your face is slightly longer than it is wide, the shape is oval; if much longer than wide, it is oblong. If your forehead, cheeks and chin are near the same width, the shape is square. If the cheeks are the widest part of your face, then you have a round face, and if the forehead is much wider than cheeks and chin, it’s heart-shaped.
Find Hairstyles for Your Face Shapes
Once you know the shape of your face, a good way of choosing hairstyles for various face shapes is to find a celebrity with a similar shape.
Hairstyles for Oval Shaped Faces:
Oval face shapes can wear almost everything; celebrities with oval faces include Jada Pinkett Smith and Jessica Alba.
Hairstyles for Oblong Shaped Faces:
Oblong face shapes need to choose hairstyles that add width, while round face shapes need to take it away. Celebrities with oblong faces include Ashlee Simpson and Sarah Jessica Parker, while some round-faced stars are Michelle Williams and Kate Bosworth.
Hairstyles for Square Shaped Faces:
Square face shapes should downplay their angular jaws, and heart-shaped faces need to draw attention to their cheekbones. Gwyneth Paltrow and Angelina Jolie have square faces, and Katie Holmes and Reese Witherspoon both are heart-faced.
