Black Hair Styles

Black hair style is beautiful when the stylist takes advantage of the texture and works with the hair rather than against it. Whether your black hairstyle is natural or smooth, an experienced stylist will know how to deal with coarseness, dryness and frizz by cutting the hair into a shape that makes it manageable and using the right products for hold.
Black Hair Styles: Making Texture Work For You
A great short black hair style is a modified pixie cut in which the stylist cuts uneven layers all over the head to add texture. This style works well both straight and curly, so it is a great look for women who want versatility without high maintenance.
Medium length black hair styles can also be worn straight or curly; for a relaxed look, use a flat iron to smooth out hair and a curling iron to curl ends under, but be sure to protect hair with a deep conditioner first. For curly medium length looks, separate your curls for definition by coating them with a tiny amount of styling oil.
For longer black hair styles, traditional looks such as cornrows work well for control, or tame loose curls with moisturizing shampoo, deep conditioner, anti-frizz serum and gel before air-drying them. Straightening long black hair can be done for special occasions, but it is not recommended for daily wear without a professional overseeing it because the chemicals and heat necessary to accomplish this look can destroy fragile hair. If you are trying this look at home, coat the hair with a thermal protectant before applying heat and finish off with a shine serum.

Most these women aren’t 100% black or relax and/or use weave. How is this supposed to help those with actual black hair?
I know the answer-it’s not! This society just says if you’re hair is not naturally silky smooth it’s “bad hair”. People need to see how they can do THEIR hair not how to ruin it or make it better.

I agree with Moon. I’m looking for a bob styles for Black women and keep getting sites showing me women with weaves or multicultural hair. Not all Black women wear weaves and hair pieces. Those styles should not be posted under anything that doesnt include the word weave.

To my opinion the majority of women who want their hair done naturally should either let it stay curly or if they want to achieve their european/asian aquantiences they so get a perm or blowdry/straighten their hair with a flat iron. I recommend african americans with soft hair(they do exist) not to get a perm since the texture can not handle such strong force……………..bascially just wet your hair put some hair conditioner and let it be with a cut or something or blowdry/straighten it for special occasions if you want it to grow out since heat like that give split ends which leads to hair loss!

Leona Lewis is HALF white. Stop calling her black. It is quite obvious she is not. So is Thandie. It is so funny how half of these woman are not even full black. Is that because they could not achieve these hairstyles otherwise?

guys… these women do not represent natural black hair.. come on, guys, lets not kid ourselves
Silky straight hair isn’t the only way to be beautiful. Sure, they’re hair is great, but how boring would it be if we all were the same?? Our hair is gorgeous by being so different. Lets embrace and take care of the hair God gave us, and stop trying so hard to be someone we’re not.
